Detour (1945)
2 stars for Ann Savage for living up to her name + 1 star for that look up there, which says it all + ½ star for that moment she takes to adjust her sweater before getting in the car - 1 star for Tom Neal who spent too much time getting by on sweat and 5 o’clock shadow + 1 star for the 1941 Lincoln Continental Cabriolet - ½ star for the Sue character, whose name I thought was Helen, because that’s how much that storyline mattered - 1 star for the very end (if the Hays Code is going to mess with your movie, at least try to make the best of it!!)
Haywire (2011)
Hanna (2011)
1½ stars for Saoirse Ronan even though it was distracting how much she looked like Anne Heche from certain angles + ½ star for Cate Blanchett because she’s awesome - ½ star for Cate Blanchett because this time she was mostly gimmick (not sure that’s entirely her fault) - ½ star for the requisite unbelievability of the plot + ½ star for being interesting enough that I didn’t care - ½ star for a seriously weak plot device that allowed Hanna to get up to speed + 1 star for the look and vibe of the movie as a whole + 1 star for Jessica Barden who played Hanna’s friend and was totally hilarious
